50 years of elephant – This is being celebrated!

Preparations are underway for an elephant-tastic celebration when the Maus’s little blue friend, the Elephant, celebrates his anniversary. The Elephant will be 50 years old in January 2025.

Since his first appearance on “The Show with the Maus” on 5th January 1975, the blue Elephant has captured the hearts of generations of children and become the trumpeting favourite character of 3 to 6-year-olds. Since 2007, the elephant has had his own spot in the limelight, leading the young audience through “The Show with the Elephant” along with the pink Bunny.

The celebrations for the Elephant’s 50th birthday are being held independently of the “The Show with the Maus” and “The Show with the Elephant” formats. This gives interested licensees the unique opportunity to license products from the Maus, Elephant and Duck, as well as the Elephant and Bunny. A special logo and exclusive illustrations have been created for the occasion. These can now be used to create attractive products. As part of a comprehensive marketing and PR campaign, the WDR mediagroup is helping licensees to position their highlights for the Elephant’s 50th birthday in the run-up to the anniversary.

The actual birthday in January 2025 will be celebrated on all WDR channels with numerous elephant-themed surprises. Preparations are in full swing, but one thing is already certain: the 50th birthday of the Elephant is not only a celebration for the little elephant. It is also a special opportunity for licensees to associate themselves with a timeless and popular character and celebrate the trumpeting favourite of children in style!
